In my Agricultural Extension and Industry Methods class, a group assignment was to create a method demonstration that lasted between 10 and 13 minutes. I worked with Codi Perkins, Taylor Znidarsic, and Haley White. We chose to teach our class about canning their own foods. We all experienced the canning process while attending our Food Processing class together. Attached is the visual/ PowerPoint presentation we used. Our props were a stockpot, canning jars with lids and rings, canning tongs, wide mouth funnel, homemade canned food products, kitchen towels, and measuring cups. We spoke on topics such as the history of canning, benefits, items needed, the process, and tips and tricks to successfully canning. This project allowed for us to use teamwork to demonstrate a process that others may not know about. We titled this "Yes, You Can: Canning" because anyone can use this process to preserve their food because it is an easy process and is not time consuming.
