Communicating Through Conflict, one of the Leadership 101 workshops had the purpose to help students deal with conflicts in every relationship/situation and use the benefits it could have.
At the beginning of the session, the speaker asked us to list some of the things to have in consideration when having a discussion. These were to listen, comprehend, have an open mind, think before reacting, and know when to take a break.
During the first exercise, the speaker read some statements and we had to decide whether we strongly agree, agree, disagree, or strongly disagree. This activity helped understand that people can different opinions and is important to respect different point of views. The majority of conflicts we have are the result of simple misunderstandings, but we fail to listen and understand the other person's side of the problem.
Overall, this workshop helped me learn how to resolve conflicts and use it to expand my knowledge.
